ATOA Spring Training Event

Gulf Shores, AL

This 8 hour block is an extension of Part 1. This block picks up where Part 1 ended, attendance to Part 1 is not a prerequisite. The focus continues to be blending the Officer and his equipment into a tactical system instead of components attached to a body. Teamwork, communication, counter-assault, man-down drills, malfunction reduction, gas mask usage and situational awareness are some of the topics that will be covered. 

  • Entry Vest

  • Helmet

  • Primary firearm w/sling & 3 magazines-250 rounds

  • Secondary firearm with holster & 3 magazines-200 rounds

  • Gas mask w/carrier

  • Shooting glasses and hearing protection

  • Tactical Uniform

  • Tactical Boots

  • Camel back or other type of container for water (does not have to be attached to kit)

Bring any personal gear that you would wear on a raid or entry training.  

 

Mechanical Breaching

This 8 hour course covers a wide variety of breaching methods as well as planning & leadership considerations,  rehearsals, breaching methods and tools, diversion devices, training and medical recommendations and liability concerns.  The student will receive instruction on primary and secondary entry point selection.  He/she will also gain experience in breaching different types of residential doors, residential windows, screen doors and motor vehicles.  The student will also be exposed to shotgun breaching.  At the completion of the course each student will be able to create or improve upon an existing breaching program within his or her unit.

(It is recommended that the student train in the personal gear that he/she typically uses on an operation.)

 

Plain Clothes Carry Block

This 8 hour block is appropriate for Protection Details, Investigations, Off Duty, etc. this block is will provide the Officer with applicable skills required when the polyester is in the closet but the threat is in your face.

  • Concealable Body Armor

  • Primary firearm w/concealable holster (no shoulder holsters), 3 magazines, concealable magazine carrier, belt strong enough to support weapon, magazines and multiple draws (some suit & fashion belts are NOT designed for this)-200 rounds ammunition

  • Shooting glasses and hearing protection

  • (1) Open front cover garment, (1) closed front cover garment (jacket, shirt, vest, etc.) We will work from both types of cover garments.

  • Long pants, boots suitable for range work

  • Groin Protection (for Simunition exercises)

  • Camel back or other type of container for water

If you have a Simunition weapon that replicates your duty weapon you are encouraged to bring it.

This block is designed for service weapons carried concealed (not back-up weapons).

Introduction to
Initiative Based Tactics

This 8 hour block introduces the Officer to a tactical entry system that allows the Officer to read & feed the problem rather than a pre-programmed, choreographed maneuver scheme. Approaches, stacking, room clearing, team member/leader responsibilities, weapons management and mental awareness are some of the key points to this introduction to an operationally proven system.

  • Entry Vest

  • Primary firearm w/ sling, 3 magazines- 100 rounds

  • Secondary firearm w/holster, 3 magazines- 50 rounds

  • Gas mask w/carrier

  • Shooting glasses and hearing protection

  • Tactical Uniform

  • Tactical Boots

  • Camel back or other type of container for water (does not have to be attached to kit)

Bring any personal gear that you would wear on a raid or entry training.  

 

 

Tactical Firearms

This 8 hour block covers marksmanship, equipment set-up, weapon manipulation, “move, shoot, & communicate”, ammunition management, mental awareness, blending the Officer and his equipment into a tactical system instead of components attached to a body. This block has become known as: "GUNS"

  • Secondary firearm with holster & 3 magazines-200 rounds

Firearms Instructor Workshop

The six hour workshop covered training concepts, weapon skills and firearms drills with handgun. This workshop is designed for Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors.

  • Handgun, duty belt, 3 magazines, 200 rounds of handgun ammunition 
  • Patrol Carbine, 3 magazines, 200 rounds of carbine ammunition
  • Concealable Body Armor, Eye/Ear Protection

Patrol Officer's Counter Assault Tactics (CAT)

This 8-hour block is designed to provide Patrol Officers/Deputies with range training in order to build immediate action skills to deadly threats. This block is based on the common assault situations faced by Patrol Officers. This program focuses on winning the deadly force encounter, not merely surviving.

Patrol duty gear, 300 rounds handgun, body armor, ear & eye protection
